Students, recent graduates, and career changers who are serious about preparing for careers in high finance — including capable candidates without conventional résumé markers. We evaluate on potential and commitment.
The Residency exists for candidates who want real exposure but require structured immersion, feedback, and development. An internship and the Residency are fundamentally different paths. One prioritizes output. The other prioritizes transformation.
We admit a small cohort each cycle — people who are intellectually serious, ready to contribute, and genuinely committed to a career in institutional finance. Selection is based on how you think, not where you went to school.

How Selection Works
Selection is based on judgment, communication ability, learning velocity, and alignment. Credentials matter far less than how someone thinks, responds to pressure, and handles ambiguity.
The process includes multiple filters and practical assessments. Not everyone who applies will be invited to proceed. The Institute’s acceptance rate varies but typically ranges from 0.5–4.0% of applicants, depending on cohort quality and program capacity.
Initial Submission
Candidates provide educational credentials, professional background, and relevant work experience. Application processing requires comprehensive evaluation by senior banking professionals.
Confidentiality Requirements
Candidates advancing beyond initial screening execute confidentiality agreements, introduced early to allow frank discussions and sharing of relevant data.
Evaluation Phase
Senior bankers conduct interviews to assess analytical capability and professional suitability.
Offer of Admission
Successful candidates receive formal offers of admission specifying location, start date, and program terms. Candidates typically have 48 hours to accept or decline offers.
Application evaluation typically requires a few weeks from initial submission to final determination.
What the Residency Provides — and Does Not
Program Includes

Program Does Not Provide

- Constant or daily classroom style training curriculum and impractical theory
- Post-program employment guarantees
- Employment visa sponsorship
Swiss Finance cannot sponsor employment visas for program participation but may assist with other visa types that may satisfy regulatory requirements for this program.
Requirements: Capacity for immersive work schedules, analytical competence, and professional maturity, while still allowing for work life balance and exploration of the city.
London Networking Event: Accepted participants may be invited to a London-based networking event intended to facilitate peer interaction and exposure to the broader finance ecosystem. Attendance, timing, and format vary by cohort. No specific employers, recruiters, interviews, or hiring outcomes are promised or implied.

Placement Outcomes
100% of participants who pursued institutional finance careers have received finance-related job offers, measured over a long-term horizon rather than immediate post-program hiring. This, however, is not a guarantee.
Placements include investment banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, asset managers, and corporate development teams across global financial centers.
Many participants enter the program as undergraduates or early-career professionals. Placement outcomes are therefore tracked over 5–10 years and reflect progression into leading investment banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, asset managers, and corporate development teams across global financial centers.
Placements are achieved externally and measured longitudinally, rather than within the typical 3–6 month post-graduation window used by business schools.
Average Starting Salaries
Performance Standards: Strong performance required to receive employer referrals and recommendations. Participants with poor attendance or work quality complete the program but do not receive recommendations.
Work Intensity: Programs require intensive work schedules that mirror real institutional finance environments. Expect regular full days and occasional evenings or weekends when project deadlines or market activity require it. Flexibility and commitment to delivering high-quality work are essential.
This Program Assumes Seriousness
Participants are expected to treat the Residency as a professional obligation, not a résumé accessory.
Competing commitments, partial availability, or casual engagement are disqualifying. This program is not compatible with side jobs or internships, divided attention, or opportunistic résumé stacking.
Those seeking symbolic affiliation rather than substantive involvement should not apply.
This standard protects both the cohort and the integrity of the experience.
Admission is limited. Capacity is fixed. Access is earned.
The Residency exists for individuals capable of operating at a professional level in high-stakes financial environments, even if they did not arrive through traditional pedigree pipelines.

Swiss Finance Institute never charges anyone for an internship or a job — no fee, no tuition, no deposit.
